Jack White Opened A Third Man Records Store In Detroit
Jack White’s record label Third Man Records is set to open its own vinyl pressing plant in Detroit. The company will also be opening a 10,000-square-foot vinyl record pressing plant. Johnny Cash and Jack Johnson since their launch in 2001.
Fans began ready in line Thursday morning for Friday’s official opening.

Third Man has purchased eight new presses from German startup Newbilt and plans for them to be operational by mid 2016.
Third Man Records’ opening in Detroit is something of a homecoming for White, who grew up in Detroit, but moved to Nashville as his musical fame grew. NME reports that the rocker opened a new store in Detroit on Thanksgiving evening, holding a preview event for the store before opening to the public today.
Outside the store on Thursday, members of the Third Man Record Collectors forum on Facebook – hailing from Kentucky and OH as well as MI -had pitched a tent at 5 a.m. and were looking forward to being the first inside on Friday, primarily to gobble up the new limited edition releases.
Brendan Benson, who also works with White in the Raconteurs – and once worked down the block at the Traffic Jam – added that its very cool.
