Jackass star climbs 100ft crane in Seaworld protest
“Jackass” star Steve-O was arrested Sunday night after drawing emergency responders to a Hollywood construction site where he climbed a crane towering at least 100 feet above ground, police said.
Ling said because the first responders were unsure whether Glover needed to be rescued, several ambulances and fire trucks were sent to the scene.
LAPD confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that Steve-O was arrested and expected to be booked on suspicion of trespassing, setting a firework without a permit, and conspiracy to commit a crime. Glover’s representative didn’t immediately respond to a requests for comment.
Police responded to call about a possible jumper in Hollywood, which turned out to be “Jackass” star Steve-O making a stand against Seaworld.
Last year, he was slapped with a $239 fine after changing a 5 Freeway sign in San Diego to read “SeaWorld Sucks”.
Glover said his protest was in response to controversy over the 2103 documentary “Blackfish”, which criticized SeaWorld’s treatment of killer whales.
Steve-O, whose real name is Stephen Glover, teased the climb on Instagram on Saturday, sharing a photo of himself holding an inflatable killer whale.
Now I’m really high up in the air. We’re gonna do a big risky stunt tomorrow in Los Angeles that will probably get me in a lot of trouble, and you can watch it happen at 7pm PST via a live stream on my Facebook page. I’ll stream live again soon for the stunts.
