Jackie Collins, RIP: “My women are not sluts, they’re smart”
– Jackie Collins, the bestselling author of dozens of novels including “Hollywood Wives” that dramatized the lives of the rich and treacherous, has died.
Collins’ family said her readers could honor her life and work by making a donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Organization.
Her family said she was “a trailblazer for women in fiction and a creative force”.
Collins was diagnosed with stage four cancer almost seven years ago. Her books, which were translated into 40 languages, have sold more that 500 million copies. In many ways, her own persona was her greatest character.
Following news of Jackie’s passing, Joan released a statement saying she was “devastated” by her younger sibling’s death.
Memorial services will be private, yet Collins’ family has welcomed United States supporters to donate in Collins’ name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Organization – in lieu of flowers.
“Barbara Cartland said to me, ‘Oh, Miss Collins, your books are filthy and disgusting and you are responsible for all the perverts in England, ‘ ” Collins told Porter Magazine in 2014.
Some of the characters she created were even adapted for television and film.
“People are intrigued by fame, power and wealth and I think Hollywood is the only place where you can get all three together.” .
However, according to the source, Jackie was not he only one in the Collins family butting heads with Joan. But she understood that those boundaries are still endlessly debated, and the frisson of scandal that reliably propelled her novels onto the bestseller lists has, in retrospect, an unexpected foundation of excellent good sense.

In an interview in 2004, Collins said that she attributed her success to a blend of luck and something that she believed in. she stressed that she wrote only what she wanted to read. Her death did come as a shock to many and the suddenness of it might have been attributed to the Emmy memorial not being updated including her death. The Loose Women star also added, “What amazes me is that somebody so close to death, in this sense, was able to go on a book tour interview and do all that, and a week later she’s gone”.
