Jaguar F-PACE Drives Around Loop, Breaks World Record

Pricing for the F-Pace starts at $42,390 for V-6 gas engines and $40,990 for the diesel engine and includes Jaguar’s recently announced EliteCare, a five-year/60,000 mile ownership package. The V6 petrol is the fastest (0-62mph in 5.5 seconds) but also the thirstiest (31.7mpg and 209g/km).

Jaguar imprinted its own stamp on the burgeoning luxury sport utility vehicle market with the launch here of the 2017 F-Pace. There are so many new acronyms (AWD, IDD, ASR, ASPC, LFL…) the F-Pace reads like a German auto sometimes, like a Porsche.

Will the F-Pace go off-road?

All-wheel drive can be fitted to this engine, at which point an eight-speed automatic gearbox also becomes optional.

Jaguar has let their guard down and given us a preview image of the 2016 F-Pace SUV which will be making its global debut at the Frankfurt worldwide Automobil-Ausstellung (autoshow) held from September 17 – 27.

Jaguar is set to unveil its all-new F-PACE, its first-even performance crossover, at the 2015 Frankfurt IAA.

The diesel F-Pace will be priced at $49,900 when it arrives in Spring 2016.

In addition to extensive use of aluminum, the F-Pace features a magnesium cross-car beam and front-end carrier as well as high-strength steel rear floor and doors.

Almost there. Inside it’s worth noting there’s 650 litres of boot space with the rear seats up or 1,740 with them down, a “Sports Command” driving position and (apparently) plentiful space for five. It also has WiFi hotspot support for eight devices simultaneously.

Now, we’ve heard a great deal about the Jaguar F-Pace already. A more capable system brings a 10-inch center screen with gesture control plus a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

A laser head-up display unit is also offered, which projects things including navigation instructions and speed limits onto the windscreen.

The F-PACE, which Jaguar has dubbed “the world’s most practical sports car”, was driven by British stunt driver Terry Grant on a specially built structure.

Jaguar is promising a sporting drive in the new F-Pace akin to that of the XE and XF thanks to a range of chassis technology being offered, including sophisticated suspension (double wishbone front, Integral Link rear) and electric power steering systems borrowed from the two saloons.

An SUV was always part of Jaguar’s master plan. The cheapest model weighs in at just 1,665 kg. Costing £65,275 it gets the 3.0 V6 diesel from the new XF, and is specced to the eyeballs with kit such as 22-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, gloss black details and a sliding panoramic roof.

Jaguar commands some of the highest average transaction prices among mass luxury brands in the U.S. But the brand’s average transaction prices are expected to drop after the XE sport sedan and F-Pace crossover are introduced, boosting volume in key segments. The autonomous emergency braking system gets a pedestrian detection system as well as lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and an intelligent speed limiter.
