Jaguar F-TYPE SVR available to order
Being made of a lighter material in a combination of titanium and Inconel makes the new F-Type lighter by 25 kgs as compared to the all wheel drive F-Type R while with carbon ceramic brakes and carbon fiber roof, weight is reduced by 50 kgs. That sprinting pace comes courtesy of Jaguar’s bombastic supercharged 5.0-liter V8, which now develops a whopping 575 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque thanks to some tuning know-how nicked from the raucous F-Type Project 7 cars. Carbon-ceramic brakes feature on the SVR to reduce weight by 21kg and are joined by stiffer suspension for better cornering ability.
The F-Type SVR is the first Jaguar to roll off Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations production line and U.S. magazine Road & Track says the division’s hard-core versions of Jags and Land Rovers are beginning to signal a bold future for the company. Pricing starts at £110,000 for the coupe and £115,485 for the convertible.
Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar, said, “The purity of the F-TYPE’s form is something truly special, but in designing the new F-TYPE SVR we had the opportunity to create something even more dramatic”.
British automaker has released an official video detailing the upcoming SVR iteration of its globally coveted F-Type sportscar. The top speed is rated at 322 kmph for the coupe and 314 kmph for the convertible.
The Jaguar F-Type SVR will arrive in showrooms this summer, as a 2017 model. Completing the upgrades are new calibrations for the gearbox and the all-wheel drive, torque vectoring, adaptive dynamic, power steering and stability control systems. 0-60 is reached in just 3.5 seconds. There are new inlets at the front as well as a larger and upgraded front splitter and extra venting to allow more air to the cooling system. “Our objective was to take everything that our customers love about F-Type – the performance, the handling, the sound, the design – and take it to a whole new level”. It includes a new front end, a flat underfloor and a carbonfibre active rear wing.
Jaguar hasn’t forgotten the interior fit-out of the 2016 F-Type SVR, with 14-way SVR Performance seats cosseting both driver and passenger in leather seats in a choice of three colours.
Jaguar’s latest InControl Touch and InControl Touch Plus infotainment systems take centre stage, their eight-inch touchscreens giving access to 3D map displays and 380W or 770W Meridian surround sound audio systems.
