Jaitley files cases against AAP leaders
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday filed a defamation case against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five other AAP leaders in the Delhi High Court for making false allegations about irregularities in the DDCA.
Noted lawyer Ram Jethmalani will defend Kejriwal in the Delhi High Court.
The decision to form the commission of inquiry came amid AAP’s fierce attack on Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over alleged irregularities in DDCA during his 13-year tenure its chief.
Congress MPs on Monday indulged in sloganeering against finance ministerArun Jaitley over the DDCA issue in both House of Parliament and demanded his resignation and a JPC probe.
The Minister said, Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has already scrutinized the expenditure of 114 crore rupees incurred on the construction of the stadium and found no financial irregularities. Then, pointing to the Congress benches, he said: “You should demand a time-bound probe by CBI or SIT”. No one raised doubts on that expenditure,”Jaitley said in the Lok Sabha”.
Newly-appointed by Arvind Kejriwal as the commission of inquiry into the Delhi’s cricket body (DDCA) “scam”, Gopal Subramanium tells NDTV, “If my inquiry needs to do anything that is necessary, I will not hesitate to do it”.
It was done to deflect issues from an unrelated search during investigation by CBI of a bureaucrat in the secretariat of the Delhi Government based on a complaint by a third party, he said. “When Congress was in power, the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium was renovated for Rs 900 crore”, Jaitley said in the Lok Sabha amid loud Congress protest.
“By filing defamation case, Jaitley is trying to hurt himself”.
Jaitley said he was ready to respond to any charges and asked the opposition for a discussion. “Our fight against corruption will continue”. Sunday’s media conference of Kirti Azad, the principal adversary of the ruling clique in the DDCA, attracted so much of advertising component that some channels had a frequent breaks, skipping important portions of the narrative. Senior members of the BJP said they backed Jaitley. I am fighting against corruption and my fight is not against any individual or any party.
