James Bond Aston Martin DB10 Spectre vehicle up for auction
The Aston Martin DB10 from the most recent James Bond film will be auctioned off at Christie’s in London along with a list of other props from the movie.
The charity auctions are being held to celebrate Spectre’s release on Digital HD, Blu-Ray and DVD. Ever since the now iconic DB5, Aston Martin has been designing cars for the James Bond film empire. This does mean Daniel Craig probably hasn’t driven it, but he might have posed with it at some point and he’s certainly signed it, at the Spectre premiere at the Royal Albert Hall.
Àston Martin and James Bond has had a long history together, almost half a century, but the DB10 has a very special place in that relationship. “James Bond” line in front of a mirror, you should know that this DB10 doesn’t have rockets, ejectable seat, guns, and other MI6 gizmos, as it’s one of only two show cars that were left unmodified and used for display purposes. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission which enables the auto to hit an estimated top speed of 306Kmph (190Mph). Drawing on the unrivalled knowledge of a committee of authoritative Aston Martin experts, the pioneering Assured Provenance certification programme is administered and run by the brand’s world-renowned in-house heritage vehicle facility – Aston Martin Works.
The exterior panels are formed from carbonfibre and the interior is handmade, with leather, carbonfibre and aluminium surfaces. It has not been through the extensive testing processes used for production cars and was only intended for specially trained drivers under the controlled environments of filming.
Proceeds from the sale, on February 18 in London, will go to Medecins sans frontieres and The United Nations Mine Action Service.
