James Cameron Announces New Avatar Comics
“For the past twenty-seven years, Dark Horse has been associated with my films The Terminator, Aliens, and The Abyss”, Cameron nnoted. The news was revealed at the New York Comic Con and is part of a deal with Dark Horse and Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment. While there is now no word on the creative team for the Avatar comic book series, Cameron recorded a message for Avatar fans to go along with the announcement.
“Lone Wolf and Cub” is one of the most influential manga of all time, and its 2003 remake was no slouch, either – which may explain why Dark Horse is now remaking a reboot with ‘Lone Wolf 2100’.
Cameron is now working on three sequels to Avatar, with the first scheduled for release in 2017. Jensen plans to write two new comics series: a conspiracy story called Cryptocracy and a crime fiction piece called Two Dead. AVATAR was named best drama at the Golden Globes and won Academy Awards for cinematography, visual effects and art direction.
At the beginning of 2015, Dark Horse Comics lost the Star Wars rights to Marvel Comics. The company is known for the progressive and creator-friendly atmosphere it provides for writers and artists.
Dark Horse, which is publishing omnibus editions of “Lone Wolf and Cub”, released the original “Lone Wolf 2100” in 2003. After all in today’s world 2009 might as well have been last century.
