James fires Cavaliers past Pistons in National Basketball Association
Irving is shooting 38.7 percent from 3-point range. “That’s definitely great ingredients for a victory”. After taking a small, brief lead in the opening minutes of the game, the Cavaliers simply steamrolled Detroit from there – drilling their first 10 triples, scoring 44 points and taking an 18-point edge after one quarter.
LeBron James posted his 10th triple-double of the season as the Cavaliers clobbered the Pistons 128-96 in Cleveland. Andre Drummond had 8 points and 14 rebounds.
“I stepped away from the game for a little bit, and I know everyone thought it was for marijuana, but I had to develop some things on the personal side”, he said. “We played with pace because we were able to get stops”.
ABOUT THE PISTONS (33-33): Forward Tobias Harris scored a season-best 28 points in Saturday’s 112-92 trouncing of the New York Knicks and scored 20 or more points in three of the past five games.
Despite last night’s cameo appearance, Sanders likely won’t play much in the regular season.
“If he doesn’t practice until the end of the week, that’s fine”, Griffin said. “Why not? Everyone deserves a second chance and it look like he wants to get back to playing the game he loves and hopefully this is his destination”.
The team finished 19-of-30 from beyond the arc and shot 59.7 percent from the floor.
“That’s something we had to clean up and get better at”, James said. “This is not a ideal team right now and we understand that”. Cleveland shot from a ridiculously high rate in that first half.
The Cavaliers ended up making their first 10 3-point tries, the second-best streak to start a game this season.
With Kevin Love still out indefinitely, following knee surgery, and Andrew Bogut now not even an active member of the Cavaliers, Sanders has an opportunity to re-establish himself in the National Basketball Association with the defending champions.
LeBron James is interested to see if Sanders can help. “We had bodies moving”.
The four-time league MVP wasn’t the only star.
Leading the charge for the Cavaliers was point guard Kyrie Irving.
“He hasn’t done anything different”, Lue said about James. “I just try to put (the ball) on time, on target”. The last time they shot that well from 3-point range was a little less than a month after that – on January 14, 2014 against the Lakers, when they shot 76.5 percent (13-of-17). The Pistons cut Cleveland’s double-digit lead to eight, 31-23, with 2:42 to play in the first period. “We need to just work through where we are today and what we can expect”.
