James Franco pens Lana Del Rey book
The Academy Award nominated actor has paired with David Shields to co-author Flip-Side: Real And Imaginary Conversations With Lana Del Rey. He’s always keeping us on our toes.
All that being said, Del Rey is a fascinating subject and there are brief moments of lucidity in the V piece that suggest some sort of handle on her output: “When I watch her stuff, when I listen to her stuff, I am reminded of everything I love about Los Angeles”.
According to Rolling Stone, Franco may have alluded to his Lana-inspired book back in January when he penned a tribute to his pop star friend and apparent muse in V Magazine called “Shades of Cool”. “It’s nearly almost better if you don’t get me exactly, but try”. (Well, that would explain the whole real and imaginary conversations thing). That poem was, it turns out, nothing compared to the 100-page book on Del Rey that Stereogum reports is coming our way, and whose cover you can see below.
Del Rey, meanwhile, is gearing up to release her third studio album, Honeymoon, in September. Little information is known about the actual contents of the book, though it seems as though Flip-Side will feature interviews with Del Rey and Franco as well as vignettes about what people perceive the dreamy singer to actually be like.
Feel free to judge the book by its cover, below.
