James Franklin confirms commitment to Penn State football
Lewis has earned a reputation as a big-game player during his time with the Nittany Lions for reasons like this.
Franklin was asked about the Miami opening, and had this to say. Making sure he gets those opportunities starts during the week in practice. “We have a lot of work to do off the field in every aspect. We’ve got to be fresh and we’ve got to be physical”.
“We had 11 what we call 50-50 balls, and they converted 10 of the 11”, Locksley lamented. An 0-9 showing two seasons ago and 5-4-1 campaign last year led into this year’s undefeated start.
“We still need work”.
“The moral victory thing is not something as a coach, program that we’re four, five years into, you don’t get to have those”, Locksley said Tuesday. “It’s a game that will get people worn down, physically and mentally”.
-S Marcus Allen has been a high-risk, high-reward player during his sophomore season.
“And at that position experience really counts, because you’re typically the quarterback of the offensive line – telling everybody what to do and identifying the front and the combination block and those things – which is essential for playing O-line”. I’ve worked my ass off to get to Penn State, to get here, and this is where I want to be. This is where I want to be.
“I like that our team played really loose and ran to the ball and we had a lot of guys contribute in the game on Saturday”, Locksley said. But this is where I want to be. “I guess a few people could look at it as a compliment”.
Illinois and Penn State have offenses that have excelled at times but have also stalled as well.
That’s call this game for what it is; it is a must win for the Illini.
If so, Penn State offers about the most extravagant of opportunities.
Illinois has a quarterback in Wes Lunt that has a ton of potential but hasn’t really shined through fully yet.
He also hit a kickoff out of bounds, the third time he’s done that this season. The heart of Penn State’s pass defense, though, is its pass rush.
The quiet weeks that preceded it aside, this was hardly a foreign scene for the Nittany Lions.
Scouting the special teams: Punter Daniel Pasquariello seems to have taken over a starting job that has been won and lost by him and Chris Gulla at various points throughout the year. Neither has been consistent. Kicker Joey Julius has connected on 10-of-12 field-goal tries but hasn’t been as consistent with his kickoffs. Pinkel has not commented on Mauk’s status in recent weeks. He didn’t stand out much in his first two years on campus as O’Brien left for the National Football League and Franklin’s staff took over.
The unranked (as of now) Nittany Lions will welcome No. 16 St. Lawrence to Pegula Ice Arena for a Thursday-Friday series this week.
Nassib leads the Football Bowl Subdivision in sacks (131/2), tackles for loss (171/2) and forced fumbles (5).
-CB Trevor Williams (No. 34 cornerback) – Williams is a multi-year starter for the Nittany Lions who is solid but unspectacular in just about all he does. Many of his big catches have come on similar routes.
Saturday’s featured change was fifth-year senior Angelo Mangiro’s shift from guard to center to accommodate redshirt junior Wendy Laurent. Barkley returned against Ohio State and was the offense’s catalyst, rushing for 194 yards. Since returning from a two-game injury absence on October 17, Barkley has 46 of the team’s 52 tailback carries. He added “it causes a distraction for our team” and he has “no idea where it’s coming from whatsoever”.
