James May not bitter about Top Gear
I know this news comes from British tabloids like The Mirror and The Sun, but they have pictures that clearly show Evans trying to get himself back together after stepping out of that Audi R8 V10 Plus for a nice breath of fresh air, so this is hardly a rumor.
James May has deemed Chris Evans “ballsy” for continuing Top Gear.
There have been repeated rumours that Evans’s new show, which is due to begin on May 8, is not going smoothly.
In a recent interview, James May has stated that he doesn’t want to see the now-rival failing and admitted he wouldn’t want to be the one presenting the show after they just finished.
May, 53 – who fronted the BBC motoring show with Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson – also said the BBC’s broadcasting of old Top Gear episodes over Christmas was “harsh” on Evans.
He said: “I don’t think he was unwell or having a breakdown”.
“I think the stories about Chris” version being in trouble might be an elaborate hoax, before it explodes onto our screens in brilliance’.
May told the Radio Times he would like to see Top Gear’s reincarnation become a success.
The BBC sacked former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson following a fracas with show producer Oisin Tymon.
She said in a statement she was “moving on to new projects”, and added: “I’d like to wish production all the very best with the show”. People are saying: “Now you’re with Amazon, you can swear and punch each other in the face”.
May also spoke about the possibility of the new show failing: “How could it [fail]?” Nor can it detract from what we achieved with Top Gear, because we won’t be just another version on another platform.
