James Milner eyeing first trophy with improving Liverpool
Dejan Lovren has hailed a “great week” for Liverpool after they defeated Swansea City 1-0 at Anfield to make it three wins in a week.
Liverpool’s last trophy was the 2012 League Cup and the former Manchester City midfielder said he was optimistic the club, who are sixth in the Premier League, could end their wait for silverware. There was nothing else about sport – we spoke about the world and private things.
“The fans are always good to me, so I am hoping for a good reception”, Clyne says, before reality kicks in. Always when a new manager settles in things change. “You get picked on form so I want to keep putting in the performances and try to get noticed, and get that spot going into the Euros”.
The ucas HAS-been subtly going about His work since the arrival of the new manager and HAS-been so far one of the stand out performers in a Liverpool shirt.
Since Rodgers’ departure the 28-year-old, the longest-serving player of the current squad, has become a permanent fixture for Klopp starting every Premier League match. And it is paying off. I think he did the same at Dortmund and it worked well.
“I’m feeling good”, Clyne said.
“He has improved since we’ve been here, adapted to our style of play better and better”. The right amount of information is very important. But it’s OK. I think we have done not too bad until now.
“It was great to get the three points and keep climbing the table”.
“It is the first competition you can win this season and no-one will be complaining if we are sat there in February or March whenever the final is with a trophy in the cabinet with plenty more games to go”.
“That is all we look at and that is what football is all about”.
There does appear to be a growing momentum under Klopp but he can not see it himself yet.
Milner is of the opinion that the momentum Klopp’s team have picked up of late could help them emerge from that busy run in an even healthier league position. We did really well over the couple of seasons I was there.
He is replaced by Gylfi Sigurdsson in Garry Monk’s only change from the side that drew 2-2 with Bournemouth at the Liberty Stadium last week.
He told LFC TV after the win over Swansea: “It was a tough game, especially also we played against the wind and it wasn’t so easy”.
