James Packer and Mariah Carey engaged

A rep for Mariah Carey has confirmed the songstress and her billionaire boyfriend, James Packer, are engaged.

The engagement happened on Thursday (January 21) while the couple was in her hometown in NY, according to E!

Carey and Packer have only been dating since June 2015 – but their relationship heated up real quick… with the two famously spending several consecutive weeks together on his yacht over the summer.

Mariah Carey is starting the year on a high note! News, which first reported the news, Packer proposed with a massive 35-carat diamond engagement ring.

On New Year’s Eve, Carey spoke of her feelings for Packer in front of a crowded auditorium before launching into a concert and singing a collection of her hits. Harvey said Packer was lucky. As she took to the stage, Mariah couldn’t help but gush about her love: “Spectacular, handsome… We’ll just say the unbelievable Mr. James Packer”. News about the couple, “They fell head over heels in love with one another”.

Carey has been married twice – to music mogul Tommy Mottola and then to Nick Cannon, the father of her twins. The marriage lasted six years and they have three children together.

Next month, Mariah will start the third leg of her sell out Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, before embarking on a world tour. “He seemed a little more under the radar than she is but looked at her very adoringly and happy”.
