James: Romero a better Man Utd keeper than De Gea
Former England goalkeeper David James has sensationally stated that Manchester United’s Sergio Romero is a better shot-stopper than David De Gea, as per Star Sports via Youtube.
James references the games that De Gea has played in so far this term, in which he states De Gea’s only picked up one clean sheet (despite it actually being two, if including the League Cup) as a way of backing up his statement, however the opposition Romero faced at the beginning of the campaign can not be compared so simply to De Gea’s opponents.
He also claims that Real Madrid didn’t really want David De Gea at all… we’ll give him one thing, he isn’t conventional with his opinions.
James added: “I think he makes a few wonderful saves and he is very athletic, but the bigger picture of the goalkeeping art, he doesn’t help as much as United can”.
It’s interesting that he didn’t go to Real Madrid, or was it that Madrid weren’t that eager on buying him?
The Argentina worldwide kept three successive clean sheets in United’s opening three Premier League games of the season before a 2-1 defeat by Swansea City at Liberty Stadium.
James comment has stirred outrage among De Gea’s fans because they consider it “unfair”, since Manchester United is now at the top of the Premier League and the Spanish goalie has successfully defended his team in three-winning matches. The Spaniard then signed a new contract at Old Trafford and returned to the first team replacing Romero.
