Jamie Foxx robbing the rich to give to the poor…
Eve Hewson has the role of Maid Marian for the Hood movie, which is scheduled to roll its cameras once Egerton has finished his stint on the Kingsman sequel and is available to work again. The reboot itself has been labelled as a darker and gritty take on the classic character, with some initially comparing to The Dark Knight.
Jamie Foxx has been cast as Little John in Robin Hood: Origins, Deadline reports.
Peaky Blinders director Otto Bathhurst is taking the helm here, with a script from Joby Harold.
Jamie Foxx has joined the cast of “Robin Hood: Origins”. The film is being produced by Lionsgate.
The film – set in Nottingham, England – will show benevolent fugitive Robin Hood meeting Little John in Sherwood Forest and together they lead the band of Merry Men, stealing from the rich to give to the poor.
Robin Hood was last on the big screen in the shape of Russell Crowe in Ridley Scott’s 2010 offering.
Similar to Morgan Freeman’s character in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (y’know… the one with Kevin Costner as Robin Hood), Foxx’s Little John will evidently be a muslim who is “battle-hardened but war-weary”, who ultimately comes to respect and admire the young outlaw.
The news also indicates that the film will continue to inch close toward production even though its shooting was delayed so Egerton could shoot Kingsman 2 first.
