Jamie Lee Curtis Recreates Mom’s ‘Psycho’ Shower Scene for ‘Scream Queens’
Jamie Lee Curtis may be the returning veteran on FOX’s Scream Queens, but she’s the original scream princess. For a scene in the upcoming show, Jamie Lee was asked to recreate her mother Janet Leigh’s fateful shower scene from the horror classic PSYCHO. It wasn’t the best of the franchise, to be sure, but not only did it launch the career of a be-cowlicked Josh Hartnett, it also allowed Curtis to share some precious screen time with her mother, Janet Leigh. Thought all fans of the genre would love it!
“Scream Queens” premieres Tuesday, September 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX. Still, even the legendary actress would likely concede that her mother is and will forever be the reigning “scream queen”.
“It felt like they’re both gone, and enough time has passed”, she said, referring to her late parents. The kicker? She’s holding a picture of her mother, who did precisely the same in Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic 1960 Psycho just before being stabbed to death to the famous sounds of screeching violins and cellos. This role has appeared in my life.
Curtis said she had only one mandate for showrunner Ryan Murphy and crew about shooting the scene. But as to why she decided to let the cat out of the bag so early and post the pic on social media Curtis blamed showrunner Ryan Murphy.
Relive the moment of terror below, and let us know how you think the scene will be featured on Scream Queens. Their co-stars include Jamie Lee Curtis, Lea Michele, Oliver Hudson, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd, Diego Boneta, Lucien Laviscount, and Glen Powell.
