Jamie Vardy to play on for Leicester despite weekly injuries
Vardy was released by his hometown club Sheffield Wednesday when he was 16-years-old and was playing non-league football until he was signed by Leicester in 2012.
But Vardy’s latest goal wasn’t enough to keep Leicester top of the league.
Fourteen seconds after the ball left Schmeichel’s gloves, de Gea’s were used to pick it in his net.
United struck back with Bastian Schweinsteiger’s first goal in English football, but he is not the solution to United’s attacking failings.
“I don’t think he would fit in”, he is quoted as saying by the Daily Star. “So it’s turned around full circle”.
With the result beyond doubt, Neymar and Suarez went to pains to try and set up their strike partner Messi, who went close three times and struck the upright before he got his goal to round off the rout in stoppage time. “I’d love to see Jamie Vardy move on and become stronger and play for England and start for England, but even that is a debate”.
United racked up nearly 69 per cent possession by the end of a second half of few chances and Van Gaal was frustrated the visitors’ control of play was not decisive.
“Every single one of their players has done that, so that’s credit to them”, Vardy said. “It’s the way I play and, if I have to play through it sometimes that’s what I’ll do”, Vardy added.
“With Jamie’s success, I think you will see clubs having a little bit more of a look in non-league for players”, Smalling said on Manchester United’s website.
“I am disappointed”, said United manager Louis van Gaal. He’s had a fantastic season, as have Leicester, but they will do well to repeat it next time around. Who would give the ultimate portrayal of the Premier League’s deadliest striker? “He is a such a laid-back character”.
Vardy seemed to take such a high-profile occasion in his stride.
“If I let the nerves show it will affect my performance”, Vardy said. It means the boys are going to be playing with a man down. “I have kept my head down and not tried to think too much about it. I can think about it when I am home but as soon as I cross the white line all I should be concentrating on is my football”.
Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy is adamant he’ll continue to play through niggling injuries in order to impress England boss Roy Hodgson.
