Jan Vertonghen backs ‘unlucky’ Tottenham striker Harry Kane
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane would score at least 20 goals a season at Arsenal were he signed to replace Theo Walcott or Olivier Giroud, according to ex-Gunner Paul Merson.
The England worldwide is still yet to find the net for his club this season, including in over 500 Premier League minutes.
Vertonghen backed Kane to turn his fortunes around and believes it is only a matter of time for the 22-year-old.
Vertonghen, however, insists the goals will come for Kane: “He has just been a bit unlucky”.
Kane scored both goals in February’s 2-1 win against Arsenal and former Spurs captain King said: “He will have great memories of playing against them and I am sure the Arsenal defenders will not have forgotten about that”.
“He’s not a guy who will just have one good season and then you never see him again. He has the qualities to perform and the goals will come eventually”, per the Evening Standard.
Spurs have won their past three fixtures, against Sunderland, Qarabag and Crystal Palace, and now embark on a run of games against Manchester City, Monaco, Swansea and Liverpool.
With arrival of Heung Min Son and Clinton N’Jie after departure of Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor in the summer transfer window, Kane’s goal burden for Spurs is expected to be reduced.
“We’ve kept three clean sheets on the bounce before this game, which is great – we are learning more and more to play alongside other”.
“It looks very good for the future”.
