Janet Jackson penned a touching comment about the “Journey to the Past” singer on her 14th death anniversary in a handwritten note on Twitter.
Janet Jackson has written an open letter to the late R&B singer Aaliyah. In it, she described the “sacred”, “everlasting” and “pure” bond that she and Aaliyah shared.
Friend and producer Timbaland also paid tribute to Aaliyah, posting a photo collage on Instagram with the caption, “R.I.P babegirl!!!!!” “#RIP (sic)”, Janet wrote on a piece of paper. She keeps me confident I know love transcends all dimensions it’s the strongest power in the universe and her and I have a lot of that forever… Aaliyah died on August 25, 2001 in a plane crash.
Aaliyah was known for giving the world some famous hits such as “Try Again” and “Rock the Boat”, and was also a successful actress with stints in films like “Romeo Must Die” and “Queen of the Damned”. Elliott wrote on Twitter, “RIP Baby Girl”, alongside a screenshot of an old article in which the rapper referred to Aaliyah as an “angel” and “sweet person with great, incredible talent”.
Though they never got a chance to collaborate, Jackson dedicated her song “Come Back to Me” to the late singer while in concert a few years back.
