Jang has historic albatross as Nordqvist, Hull take LPGA lead
Lopez is playing in her first event as a professional after earning her LPGA Tour card in December.
One shot back were Sei Young Kim and Min Seo Kwak of South Korea, Anna Nordqvist of Sweden and 46-year-old Catriona Matthew of Scotland.
Hull and Nomura each shot 3-under 70 on Friday.
However, it was not a good day for Michelle Wie, who missed the cut by a single stroke after being stung by a bee on the hand during the opening day.
Cyna Rodriguez could not get her putter going and succumbed to the swirling winds and shot a 4-over-par 77, putting her nine shots behind after two rounds of the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Open.
“I am driving the ball well; my critical thing is to get the ball into the hole”.
“I’ve never played the wind, or the golf course with that wind before”, Hull said.
Spieth, teeing off after lunchtime, completed just seven holes of his second round but failed to make up any ground on the new front-runner, remaining at 4 under after struggling with his putter, just as he did in Abu Dhabi last week.
“Hopefully in Thailand I’ll be in really good shape!”
Hull, who was first introduced to golf at the age of two and left school at 13 to be home schooled while she also competed in amateur tournaments, has always enjoyed testing her game in strong winds.
Can Lydia Ko continue to be the tour’s best player?: She’s 18, she has a major, she has 10 official tour wins.
“Apart from that I just kind of did what I’ve been doing all week, (stayed) focused, one shot at a time, made some birdies”. “But I know it’s possible and I’m just looking forward to getting the chance to do it”.
Jang had been cruising along with a solid round having already birdied the par-three third hole when she arrived at the eighth hole.
She spoke with LPGA media on January 27 and said she was excited to get her 2016 golf season underway. “The result will follow if I can carry on playing well tomorrow onward”.
Hyo Joo Kim also climbed up the leaderboard with her round of 68, which consisted of three birdies and a bogey on the front nine.
