Japan gets Nintendo 2DS in limited-edition ‘Pokemon’ colors
There have been speculations that Nintendo may choose different sets of Pokemon stickers, a special menu theme, and also a poster that is based on the map for the region under Kanto. That’s not a random date-it’s the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon series (via IGN). The four models come in transparent red, blue, green, and yellow, and coincide with Nintendo’s release of updated versions of the original Gameboy Pokemon titles.
Those who will pick up the special consoles will get a download code for the ever mysterious Pokemon Mew, who is one of the characters that are very hard to pin down. Users can also use the code with their 2DS game, or on Alpha Sapphire, Omega Ruby, and Pokemon X and Y.
As of now, there is no official confirmation for the launch of the Pokemon-themed Nintendo 2DS in the United States of America, however, the 2DS consoles are made available in Red and Blue since the a year ago.
Japan will get Nintendo’s 2DS console in limited edition Pokemon colors in February 2016. Yet, the Super Famicom-inspired buttons, Nintendo 64 controller-inspired semi-transparency of the Nintendo 2DS will remain in Japan for now, with no stated plans for an worldwide release. The see-through blue and red consoles are available in the US now, but they do not come bundled with Pokemon.
