Jared Goff says hand size has never been a problem
Goff, a three-year starter at Cal who opted to skip his senior season, measured in at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine on Thursday. While his arm strength is OK, he can still make all the throws and he can make them with accuracy. He’s affable and confident, without any hint of off-the-field trouble.
Speaking on separate conference calls Tuesday to preview the combine, two veteran NFL Draft analysts said the Bills should consider using the No. 19 pick on a quarterback if that indeed was the case.
Well, he gave the first answer last month at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. “All these guys are FBS guys”, Wentz said. “Let them know who I am as a person, get up on the board, show them I can draw up anything versus a certain defense”.
Goff, for one, showed that he’s deft at avoiding on-rushing media Thursday as he deftly handled a question about Wentz’ credentials to be rated so highly. This week he’s been compared to Cam Newton and Andrew Luck, the top two picks in the 2011 and 2012 drafts.
In an interview with Bleacher Report, former Cal offensive coordinator Tony Franklin tried to get out in front of a common narrative that spread offenses such as his are too simplistic, in part because some have many predetermined reads made from the sideline.
“Those guys have already proven themselves”. We’re all just college kids coming out trying to make a name for ourselves.
Goff and Wentz, interestingly, have trained together this winter in Irvine, Calif. It’s our honest hope you’ll visit our site often as we work really hard to provide Cowboys fans with fresh, daily content about their favorite team. And by comparison, Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota fumbled 27 times in 41 games at OR and there was no problem when the Titans selected him at No. 2 in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Sometimes the big-time quarterbacks ticketed for the high end of the first round are obvious.
Wentz reiterated his confidence in becoming the face of a franchise and is ready for the lofty expectations that come with being a first-round selection. “Here’s our odds. If we take guys that are this height, this weight, this arm length, eventually you have a better chance of winning than if you’re always looking for the special player”. There’s no question. The guy is so committed to the game. He’s the master of his craft.
The KC Chiefs have apparently been linked with Carson Wentz, as reported by Eric Adelson of Yahoo Sports. The schedule that year included a Big Ten foe at Minnesota, which the Bison beat 37-24. “You don’t wanna be picking at 4 a bunch that’s not good football”. New Browns coach Hue Jackson said as much yesterday when asked if hand size matters for QBs: “Oh, yes it does”.
Doctson, on the other hand, needs a good 40 time just be considered in the first round.
What they are saying: “He’s got the stature you’re looking for”. So you got to adjust right away and learn to adapt pretty quick.
“Receivers are going to get faster, and my timing has to speed up”, he said.
“There are some measurements that I think are accurate”. “I’ll try to hit 9″ or above at my pro day, so we’ll keep getting them bigger”.
“They’re measureables. They’re guidelines”, he said. Did they dominate the opposition at their level? “But we, ll sit down with five or six of the other guys we like”.
Wherever Wentz winds up, whether in Cleveland or San Francisco or elsewhere, he’ll be in a larger market on a bigger stage with greater responsibilities than he’s ever experienced in Bismarck or Fargo.
“A lot of hunting and fishing”. I love it out there. “I think for me coming out of North Dakota State, I think the track record speaks for itself as a victor”, Wentz said.
