Jared Leto joins Blade Runner sequel
The acclaimed actor has starred in numerous projects, and most recently, the actor spurred headlines by playing the Joker in Suicide Squad. The role is being kept under wraps, however, it will be interesting to see if he plays the antagonist in the film.
Shooting on the Blade Runner sequel is expected to begin next month for release on October 6, 2017.
Ridley Scott’s 1982 classic “Blade Runner” was about Deckard hunting the escaped genetically engineered lifelike robots called replicants who returned to Earth illegally to extend their four-year lifespans in a futuristic Los Angeles.
According to a Warner Bros. press release, the movie’s total gross is now sitting pretty at $509 million – with domestic receipts coming in at more than $238 million, supplemented by a an worldwide figure of $271 million. Being directed by Ridley Scott, he created a film with a great cast, an immersive story, and great visuals. The “Blade Runner” sequel will mark Deakins’ first foray into the sci-fi genre.
On Thursday, Alcon Entertainment’s co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson announced Jared Leto was joining the previously announced cast for Blade Runner the Sequel.
The cast will also include the almost-Joker Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, and Dave Bautista.
Original Film Concept: In a signature role as 21st-century detective Rick Deckard, Harrison Ford brings his masculine-yet-vulnerable presence to this stylish noir thriller. Fancher based the original on the late Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Music fans will also know Leto for fronting the band 30 Seconds to Mars as they’ve sold more than million albums worldwide.
And it sounds like he might never return as the Joker for future sequels after making his feelings about Warner Bros known at a recent music event.
