Jared Leto Puts Jokes Aside, Joins Cast of ‘Blade Runner 2’
States Johnson and Kosove, “We are thrilled that Jared has agreed to play a key role in the “Blade Runner” sequel”. Publicly displeased with how that film turned out-and allegedly saying, according to some fans at a concert, that he was “tricked” into the part-it is a bit surprising to see him jump into another franchise. Our fourth or fifth favorite Joker is picking himself up, wiping all the white pancake makeup off, and directing his energy into joining Harrison Ford in the probably unnecessary “Blade Runner” sequel.
Jared Leto is not very happy with how “Suicide Squad” turned out, if fan accounts of his recent remarks are any indication.
Scott will executive produce the film, which features a script by Michael Green and “Blade Runner” screenwriter Hampton Fancher. Leto is a curious choice to join the ensemble, and one wonders what kind of role was held back until the last minute for an actor of his caliber. Only time will tell if the swirl of controversy surrounding Leto’s involvement in Suicide Squad will have consequences for the future of the franchise. He may be annoying to some, but Leto’s a talented dude. He is also accompanied with Roger Deakins as the cinematographer. He is without doubt one of the best cinematographers who’s ever lived, so Deakins’ involvement is yet another reason to be excited about this sequel.
Shooting on the Blade Runner sequel is expected to begin next month for release on October 6, 2017. Leto is the latest actor to be added to the already impressive cast list that includes Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista, and Barkhad Abdi.
Warner Bros. Pictures presents, an Atlas Entertainment production, a film by David Ayer, “Suicide Squad”.
