And then came another sack of Kaepernick – this time by Packers linebacker Jayrone Elliott. He was also involved in a particularly shaky play where he was bundled over by a 49ers teammate as he attempted to field a catch. Fitzpatrick had 172 passing yards in the first half for the 3-1 Jets, who led 20-7 at intermission and allowed just 95 total yards through three quarters.

Rodgers passed for 224 yards and a touchdown, ran 17 yards to set up a key second-half score to lead the Packers to their first 4-0 start in four years.

Unfortunately for the 49ers, the offense hung the defense out to dry. They were unable to convert third downs and establish an offensive rhythm.

Over the past two weeks, the Packers have played against both Russell Wilson and Colin Kaepernick, so if any team’s qualified to compare the two players, it’s Green Bay.

A Rodgers pass to Eddie Lacy was incomplete for the next play. The drive took nine plays and covered 61 yards.

The Green Bay offense was given new life after a controversial illegal-contact penalty on ILB Michael Wilhoite negated what would have been a three-and-out following an Ahmad Brooks sack. Cries of “Give Hyde the ball more“, or “Run Torrey Smith on more deep routes” assumes those plays can be blocked and Kaepernick can throw the ball accurately.

Crosby was 6-for-6 on field goals coming in, as well as flawless on extra points.

With a sack by Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, the 49ers were forced to punt the ball.

Packers officials said safety Sean Richardson left the game with cramps late in the third quarter.

He had little room to work with in his only punt return of the second half, making six yards before being stopped on San Francisco’s 33 yard line. Vance McDonald, a former second-round pick, caught one pass for seven yards.
