Jay and Aliona win Strictly Come Dancing
Jay McGuiness has opened up about his relationship with Strictly partner Aliona Vilani, dubbing her his ‘best friend’.
The 25-year-old was stunned on hearing his name announced. “Thank you so much” before being awarded a ideal score of 40 for her Charleston routine.
Admitting he felt “spaced out” to presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, Jay went on to say: “It’s been one of the most special things that I’ve ever done and with the most special person”. Anyone who watched us and helped us get here…
Sadly for Katie, she was the first of the finalists to lose her place in the competition and took home fourth place – not that she had any hard feelings. Many viewers commented that Kellie deserved to win as Jay ended up at the bottom of the leader board on Saturday (19Dec15), but at the end of the day it was determined by a vote.
“I would have liked a bit more show in the showdance”, said Goodman.
“You’re a lovely ballroom dancer”, said Goodman.
He later added, “I’m on cloud nine, I can’t believe what’s happened”. Top grade in complexity…
“From week one, for me, you’ve been the most consistent”, head judge Goodman told him. “Even with the tiny mistakes you were fantastic”.
The boybander – who was crowned champion of the BBC ballroom dancing competition over the weekend – spoke to Lorraine after he was pictured in a close embrace with married Aliona following their win. Darcey said that the dance was quirky and suited Georgia down to a tee.
But it seems as if at least one of the show’s judges doesn’t think that Jay’s fancy footwork deserved that trophy.
Revel Horwood said he would have Foote in any of his West End shows, a compliment that reduced her to tears.
Viewers were delighted to see Ola Jordan back on the show for her final ever performance, as she danced alongside her co-stars in the opening performance of the show.
Guest singer Ellie Goulding was trending on Twitter after her rendition of her hit song Love Me Like You Do from the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack.
