Jay Cutler has a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder
McAdoo was proven prescient on Sunday.
On top of those on IR, the Bears have also had to weather injuries to starters OLB Leonard Floyd, ILB Danny Trevathan, CB Bryce Callahan, DL Mitch Unrein, DL Eddie Goldman, WR Eddie Royal, G Josh Sitton and T Bobby Massie, as well as RB Jeremy Langford, all of whom have misssed at least one game this season.
Finally, a game that Big Blue should win easily.
Cutler suffered the shoulder injury in Sunday’s 22-16 loss to the New York Giants, but finished the game.
For all the warnings McAdoo and the coaching staff delivered this past week about the struggling Bears, imagine the chatter the Giants will be hearing this week – from both inside and outside of their building – with the hapless and winless Browns next up.
The Chicago Bears have been absolutely ravaged by bad news in 2016. And, as usual, the Giants kept things interesting to the end. Trailing by six points with less than two minutes left, Cutler heaved a pass (into triple coverage) and was picked-off by Giants safety Landon Collins, ending any hope of a comeback. So far this year Cutler has completed 59 percent of his passes for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns compared to five interceptions in five games. The defense, ranked last a year ago, is one reason the Giants have one more win than they managed in either of the last two seasons. The Giants only threw the ball deep downfield once after taking the lead. “Live and learn from the first half, flush the first half, and get back out there and play your tail off in the second half and we’ll like where we’ll be at the end of the ballgame”. Connor Barth of the Bears missed one, and had a 51-yard field goal clank off the right upright. The Giants marched right down the field, ending the drive with a 9 yard TD pass to Will Tye, knotting it up at 16 a piece.
On first down, Pierre-Paul came around left end and got a strip-sack that cost Chicago 14 yards.
RUSH DEFENSE: B – The Giants held the Bears to under 93 yards rushing for the game, but the story of the run defense was a tale of two halves.
“I’m going to respect Tennessee’s defence”. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was the third cornerback in nickel packages. “After looking at it this morning, I was more familiar with this offense than I was with Baltimore”. WR Roger Lewis Jr.is in the concussion protocol after being hurt Sunday. He was replaced by Adam Gettis, but Newhouse returned in the fourth quarter.
Eli Manning and the passing game have shown flashes, but overall have been inconsistent. Let’s see how much the Giants learned from Sunday’s lesson.
It’s still premature to declare the Giants have cured all of their running game ills.
