Jay Cutler to miss at least 2 weeks with hamstring injury
Once Clausen entered the game, the Bears’ offense unraveled.
Chicago recovered from that early setback and levelled things up with less than four minutes remaining in the opening quarter when Jay Cutler found Josh Bellamy in space on the left, leaving the receiver free to run in a 48-yard score.
Cutler was at Halas Hall on Monday with his teammates, according to Fox while the first-year Bears coach said the team hasn’t decide whether or not they’ll add another quarterback this week.
“On Wednesdays, probably not as important as later in the week, but you hate to individualize anything”, Fox said. “I don’t agree with that statement at all“.
Thoughts on the Cutler injury situation for the Bears? “You can see that”.
Cutler had been 8-for-8 passing for 120 yards and easily was the driving force in tying the game at 14 before they went down 21-14 Sunday.
The Arizona Cardinals have scored a league-best 79 points in two games.
Asked if Clausen will start Sunday in Seattle, Fox said: “It’s yet to be determined”. “But at this point he’s got a pulled hamstring”, Fox explained. “It just gives us another dimension”.
Clausen’s third-quarter interception by Patrick Peterson left the Cardinals at the Chicago 32, and two plays later the Cardinals were in the end zone.
“You always want to take time when something like that happens and acknowledge it”, Arians said, “because history of the game is a damn long time”. He was just fine thank you. We were still trying to run the ball a little bit, establish that, too.
The injury to Cutler forced backup Jimmy Clausen into the game.
There are plenty of questions about Fales’ game, but he at least has some upside and unknown attached to him. And nothing is guaranteed in terms of Jeffery’s health this week.
Bears fans are through giving Cutler the benefit of the doubt, and if it was Bennett’s mistake, he’s a Pro Bowler who’s done far more good for his team than bad.
One decision that’s all his comes on kickoff returns. Jeremy Langford had one strong series and his first career rushing TD, and proved particularly effective slicing outside off the edge. That gave the quarterback seven in two games after returning last week against New Orleans from a torn anterior cruciate ligament that cut short his season after just six games a year ago. For the second straight week, the Bears defense failed to record a sack. Even experienced inside linebackers aren’t getting deep downfield with Fitzgerald.
Another positive that should be taken away from the Packers rush defense was the play from B.J.
The penalties that the Bears committed yesterday are a glaring problem for a team that can’t afford them ….at all! They have two home games against the 49ers and Rams, which opens the door for a potential 4-0 start and two quick divisional wins.
The Cardinals threw the ball just 24 times on Sunday against 28 rushes. Unfortunately, they had to settle for field goals after the offense stalled under the direction of Jimmy Clausen.
