Jay Z Sued For $20 Million For Failing To Endorse Cologne
Apparently, the famous father declined to do promotional appearances at Macy’s, in Women’s Wear Daily, or on Good Morning America.
In the documents, Parlux lawyer Anthony Viola said the company worked with Jacob the Jeweler to create five prototypes bottles which had solid gold caps and gold drizzled on the exterior which cost a staggering $20,000 each. Parlux says it presented ideas for new lines called Gold Jay Z Noir, Gold Jay Z Paris Lights and Gold Jay Z London Underground.
And that was not the only thing he kept – the rapper also kept his guaranteed $2 million up-front royalty fee, docs claim. Instead, they say the rapper’s inaction has left them unable to carry out the plan, and that a series of follow-up scents to the flagship cologne were never finished.
When the cologne launched back in 2014, it quickly became the best selling celebrity fragrance.
In October 2014, they sent “bottles, cartons and fragrance juices” to Perez for Gold Jay Z Noir, Gold Jay Z Parish Lights, and Gold Jay Z London Underground.
A subsidiary of a Long Island-based seller of designer and celebrity perfumes has filed an $18 million lawsuit against Jay Z, claiming the entertainer breached a contract when he refused to make public appearances to promote his signature fragrance brand, Gold Jay Z.
