JCO killed in sniper fire from Pakistan at LoC
According to reports, Pakistan started firing at Indian posts at 1:00am on Tuesday killing the Army officer.
A group of terrorists were intercepted by the army in Toot Mar Gali of Nowgam sector in Kupwara, said a defence official.
An Army Officer was killed in firing by Pakistani soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir’s Nowgam sector this afternoon.
Indian and Pakistani troops have been regularly firing and shelling each other’s position on the Jammu and Kashmir border.
The attack occurred in the Kupwara district, near the frontier border with Pakistan some 77 miles northwest of Srinigar, the summer capital of Indian-administered Kashmir. He further added that while the act can be described as a fresh ceasefire violation incident. Unprovoked firing by Pakistani soldiers has killed six civilians at Balakote in Poonch district. India accuses Pakistan of repeatedly breaching the 2003 ceasefire.
Officials from both countries were scheduled to meet for security talks on August. 23, but the negotiations were cancelled due to the recent cease-fire violations.
