JD (U) compares Modi-Shah to Hitler, says dictatorship hijacked BJP
The veteran leaders launched a frontal attack on Modi-Shah duo (without naming them) for the Bihar fiasco.
A statement by Modi’s supporters said that the party would welcome any guidance of the senior leaders.
BJP candidates were defeated in most of the assembly seats in Bihar where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed election rallies.
The electorate in the eastern state has supported a grand alliance of political parties, which coalesced against the ruling National Democratic Alliance (BJP-NDA) – led by Modi’s Bharatiya Janata party. The four have been totally sidelined by the current BJP leadership.
Flaying Modi for his use of “indecorous laguage”, the veteran party leader said he came in RJD supremo Lalu Prasad’s trap and “fell” to his standards while Chief Minister Nitish Kumar remained dignified, attracting voters from across communities.
On possible action against Patna Sahib MP Shatrughan Sinha for his rebellious statements throughout the campaign, Singh said there has been no discussion within the party about the issue.
Kishor, 37, who conceptualised and implemented Modi’s popular chai pe charcha initiative, substituted it with parcha pe charcha (discussion over pamphlets) under which Nitish’s poll managers sought feedback from people on the state governments performance over the past decade. Singh refused to confirm media reports that a criteria of one minister on every five MLAs is being fixed for selection of ministers in the new Nitish Kumar government. The Assocham also said that now elections are out of the way, the industry expects the Centre and state to work together for pursuing certain economic reforms like Goods and Services Tax so that the Indian economy is able to achieve higher growth for the benefit of all citizens.
The charge that the organizational recast has been carried out “unilaterally” and that leaders close to the Modi-Shah team are being promoted has not stuck so far with BJP’s campaigns in state elections not being seen to lack commitment.
“How the party is standing if no one listens to the party president”, he said.
Singh said that BJP will analyse the reasons for the party not having fared well when there was a direct fight with any party or combination and would try to improve the position. “It is the prime minister’s prerogative”. It followed another wounding loss in February in local elections in Delhi, making it harder for Modi to gain control of the upper house of parliament where the opposition has stalled key economic bills.
