JD (U) confident of Nitish’s majority, BJP assures it has numbers
Shouting slogans and carrying placards, the RJD legislators stood at the main entrance of the assembly, protesting against Nitish Kumar.
Nitish Kumar once again took over as chief minister of Bihar with BJP’s support yesterday, leaving the Opposition’s unity in tatters and raising questions over its ability to counter the saffron party in the 2019 general elections.
The unhappy leaders met at Sharad Yadav’s Delhi residence and said the veteran was upset with Nitish Kumar. “Nothing bad had happened when Nitish Kumar had been with NDA for 17 years, and now that he is back to NDA nothing (bad) will happen”. In fact, its state is so pathetic that the BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now even winning states without winning an election. “I can not be with people who commit the sin of amassing property through corrupt means while hiding behind the shield of secularism”. I support transparency in politics. Consequently, the devotees of Mamata can be forgiven for believing that India was veering towards a momentous political change that would see the ouster of a deeply unpopular Modi government by 2019 and the formation of a secular, grand alliance. He said that he did this for the interest of Bihar.
Nitish ended weeks of speculation that the “grand alliance” of the Congress, RJD and JD (U) will split, after the RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav refused to quit after being named in a corruption case by the CBI.
“If they had the majority, why didn’t they pass the floor test?” he said. This is her second term as the Chief Minister, however, Banerjee failed to live up to the expectations of the people.
“Till last minute, I did my best to stay within the Grand Alliance by serving the people of Bihar but when I asked Tejaswi Yadav to explain the corruption charges against him, he never came back with a reply. But they kept on speaking”. It depends on how quickly these leaders realize that how out-of-touch they are with the reality. But they didn’t give any answers. But whatever were the arithmetical calculations of the chief minister, what deftness or quick thinking did the Congress or Lalu Yadav display? Politics is about serving people, it’s not a medium to collect money or property.
After a brief hearing, the court posted the matter for further hearing on 31 July.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi also slammed Nitish Kumar for shaking hands with the BJP for “personal gains”.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday inducted into his cabinet 27 ministers, including 14 from JD (U) and 12 from BJP. “It was my success, which unnerved the JD (U), which plotted for my removal”, he said, adding that Kumar was aware of his “honesty”, said Tejashwi.
The Kumar-Yadav alliance ran into trouble soon after the 2015 election victory because of the Yadav family’s long running corruption and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s insistence that his totally inexperienced 26-year old younger son, Tejashwi, should became deputy chief minister. “If he had, I would have thought about it”.
