Jeb Bush campaigns in Clinton County
Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain lashed out at Jeb Bush in a blistering op-ed published Monday, saying he did better in his losing 2012 run than Bush has been able to do in 2016. While President Obama has been doing that, Republican candidates, Jeb Bush included, have been talking about how things would be different on their watch. General James Livingston, who, with medal around his neck, says: “This is no reality show”.
The former Florida governor said Tuesday in early-voting Iowa that he’s “uncertain” he would have attended the summit if he were president. Two months later, and despite thousands of biographical ads that touted Bush as a proven leader, his numbers in that same poll were about the same: 6 percent.
Jeb Bush is only polling in the single digits in most national surveys, including a Quinnipiac University report that puts him in fifth place with 5 percent, but he said Wednesday that polls are “irrelevant at this time”, and he believes he will eventually fare well against front-runner Donald Trump. The former Florida governor took to the radio and an appearance on cable television to slam Trump’s candidacy.
Bush also criticized Trump during an appearance on Fox News, and chastised Trump for getting his information “from websites” and Sunday talk shows.
Bush predicts his campaign will be more like that of John McCain in 2008, who started out slow but won the nomination in the end. Bush isn’t predicting victory in Iowa, but Bush argued his Iowa organization is the strongest among all the GOP candidates, which will help woo “late deciders”.
“At least I was once winning. They want to achieve earned success, and it’s up to us as conservatives to have a hopeful optimistic message so that they can pursue their own dreams as they see fit”. “His problem is him”. “Ask what is going on in February and the polls will be more relevant”. And really, when you haven’t come anywhere close to what some pizza guy once did, you sound pretty desperate trying to use the pizza guy as your defense.
