Jeb Bush: ‘Donald Trump is in fact a creature of Barack Obama’
That likely means frontrunner Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Bush, who was perceived as the favorite before the campaign began but has slumped badly and is polling in the single digits.
Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush breezed through his home-ish state Monday in search of people who are open to the idea of him being president.
“In a month from now they won’t [agree]”.
Specifically, Trump is “a creature of Barack Obama” who wouldn’t survive in a more normal political environment, Bush went on, the news outlet said.
Putin would better respond to a president who’s “consistent”, not a “blowhard”, Bush said, referencing Trump.
BUSH: Well, I think the Bush brand, if there is one – I’m not sure people can be created into – we use branding now kind of in a broader context than maybe we’re used to. “Are people scared about the national security interests of our country being violated because of a lax immigration system or a visa waiver program that wasn’t designed for people being radicalized?” And while both candidates are racking up endorsements from elected officials in the state, it is one endorsement that neither of them got that is causing the most controversy in Florida. “If Jeb Bush hadn’t come in and been as emphatic as he was, I don’t know if we could have held the line”.
“Donald Trump gets his foreign policy advice, congresswoman, from the shows”, he said.
The Bush camp also said it plans to increase its advertising on conservative talk radio stations in SC, a cheaper, lower-profile and less effective way to reach GOP base voters.
He said he hoped that voters had “a long enough arm” – “Or I will take over”.
Trump and Bush have sustained a distinctly high level of personal and political attacks toward each other throughout the campaign, and this trend is expected to continue even after the nomination.
BUSH: Well, they want to win though. He joined a call with his top campaign “bundlers” on Wednesday afternoon and thanked them for another successful fundraising period, while his top aides told the call that they’ve scheduled another big-dollar fundraiser for January 18 in NY. Just last week, Bush ended a speech by calling Trump a jerk. As Bush has hewed toward a more moderate approach, candidates projecting an angrier profile, like Trump, have thrived.
