Jeb Bush Ends His Presidential Campaign
“And if you look at what we’re doing now, we are going to be doing a national campaign”.
Clinton and Trump’s victories put them in strong positions as the 2016 presidential election barreled toward the March 1 Super Tuesday – the multi-state voting contests on March 1.
A large majority of black voters supported Mrs Clinton in Nevada, according to polls, an outcome that bodes well for her in next Saturday’s Democratic primary in SC. But Bernie Sanders still hasn’t managed to break through with black voters, leaving Clinton poised for a string of solid wins. The Trump campaign tried to dampen expectations in SC after an impressive win in New Hampshire but second place finish in Iowa.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump gives a thumbs up during a South Carolina Republican primary night event, Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, in Spartanburg, S.C. Trump is the victor in the South Carolina Republican primary.
“Okay, we go back to work tomorrow morning, tomorrow morning we’ll be back, but I just want to congratulate the other candidates”.
Trump’s victory capped a week in which he called rivals liars, blamed House Speaker Paul Ryan for the GOP’s loss in the 2012 presidential race, and even tangled with Pope Francis. Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida locked in a battle for second place.
In the desert state of Nevada, the 68-year-old Clinton scored a major win, but Sanders proved he was in it for the long haul.
“Who do the Democrats fear most?”.
“Some may have doubted us, but we never doubted each other”, Clinton said in a fiery left-leaning speech clearly aimed at the minority voters who make up roughly half of the state’s population and who are key in the US South. And he says he’s a better vision for how to end the bloodshed and unrest in Syria than those who offer themselves as “great military geniuses”. In what appeared to be a jab at Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, whom Bush has accused of lacking ideas, the former Florida Governor said, “ideas matter, policy matters”.
After counting 99% of the ballots, Donald Trump won with 32.5% of votes, ahead of Marco Rubio (22, 5%), Ted Cruz (22.3%), Jeb Bush (7.8%) John Kasich (7.6%) and Carson (7.2%).
“We’re just going to have to come to terms with it”, Lott said.
As the focus turns to the bigger winner-take-all states, the primaries have become Clinton’s to win and and Trump’s to lose. I believe we will do well…Texas is clearly the crown jewel of Super Tuesday.
