Jeb Bush: I’m ‘much better looking’ than Chris Christie
“That’s New Hampshire, that’s why I love the place”, said Bush.
Republican presidential candidate, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush speaks at the New Hampshire Forum on Addiction and the Heroin Epidemic at Southern New Hampshire University, Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, in Manchester, N.H.
Bush’s campaign has gotten some support from backers of U.S. Sen.
“Donald Trump will not be the nominee”, Bush replied.
“It’s an American thing to be successful and to be proud”, Bush said.
Two other attempts from Hewitt failed to get a definitive yes or no answer.
Bush’s plan is similar to what House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has proposed in recent years – getting rid of federal programs and letting states have the money and decide how to use it to help the poor.
“It’s just a classic case of somebody coming through and taking the high road, and his knee-jerk reaction is always to take the high road rather than to be a sensationalist or be a demagogue or be somebody, who’s going to make fun of other people”, he added. After the town hall, he approached the candidate to tell him that he was torn between Bush and Marco Rubio, but has now chose to vote for Bush.
But Bush said Trump goes too far, and repeated his criticism of December 19, when he called Trump a “jerk” for mimicking a disabled New York Times reporter.
“I could be at a chamber of commerce event, and someone would look at me”, Bush said.
“I would argue that 4 percent economic growth should be our aspirational goal, and we can do it”, Bush said.
“I want to be president to tear down the ceiling on people’s aspirations”.
“The immediacy of communication now… and frankly, the vulgarity of it. I mean, people in the most anonymous setting can say the most unbelievable things”. “But then Donald Trump came on and he’s very aggressive and he’s dynamic”.
But I would suggest most Americans, especially those running for president, have not changed their party affiliation from Republican, to Democrat, to Independent, to the Reform party, multiple times.
“You make the discerning decisions”, said Bush, who still badly trails Trump in national and early-state polls.
“Slow and steady wins the race…and hopefully that’s true”, Zacharie said, smiling.
Instead he redeployed many staffers to New Hampshire to blanket the state until the February 8 primary, members of his state leadership team said.
But he was reminded of the popularity of Mr Trump when Mr Tom Emanuel, a selectman from nearby Laconia, New Hampshire, told Mr Bush he was leaning toward supporting Mr Trump and wanted to know why Mr Bush had recently called the NY mogul a “jerk”.
