Jeb Bush making major changes to campaign amid struggles
Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush speaks during the LIBRE Initiative’s policy forum series at the College of Southern Nevada in North Las Vegas, Nev., Wednesday, October 21, 2015.
Jeb Bush made a massive 40 percent cut to his campaign payroll Friday, in one of the strongest signs yet the former frontrunner’s campaign is in trouble.
In Plano, Texas, this week, a crowd of 7,000 stood and cheered at Prestonwood Baptist Church when Pastor Jack Graham told Bush, “George W. Bush did keep us safe, no matter what anybody says”.
In July, even after breaking a vertebra in a fall that left him hospitalized in Maine, the elder Mr. Bush was fuming at the news of the day: Mr. Trump had belittled Sen.
“We have a campaign that is created to win and I’m going to win”, he said.
The changes will predominantly affect staff at Bush’s Miami campaign headquarters.
But with just over three months left until Iowa kicks off the 2016 primary voting, and Bush remains mired in the middle of the pack, a few supporters fear it soon could be too late. Many said they were eager to see Bush be more assertive and forceful in debates, in his TV ads and at campaign appearances.
Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson, who is tied for first place with Trump in recent voter polls, raised $20.7 million, more than any other GOP candidate, last quarter.
In particular on the issue of Syrian refugees, Bush has talked about an American duty to take in refugees – in particular persecuted Christians – in a striking contrast to Trump’s comments that he would send refugees back to where they came from.
When Jeb Bush was asked at a campaign event earlier this month whether he’d have his brother join him for public campaign events, he said only, “I’m happy that he’s supporting me”.
The Lie: It’s pretty clear by this point that The Donald and Jeb Bush don’t like each other.
Now, Bush is facing questions as to whether he has the ability to remain a viable candidate. “Jeb is decisively laying out an agenda that will create jobs and opportunity in Alabama, and that’s I am endorsing him for President”. “And he did it because he’s a good man”, Bush said.
“I’m not getting out”.
When George H.W. Bush, who wears a neck brace after falling this summer, heard about a regular conference call Jeb Bush has from the campaign trail with his closest supporters, he insisted on being included, said Jim McGrath, George H.W. Bush’s speechwriter and spokesman. “I think it’s wide open”.
“You’ve got to do more with less”, is the message that was delivered Zeidman said.
Zeidman said those raising money for Bush will need to work as hard as they have worked in the past to make sure the money continues to pour in.
