Jeb Bush pulls out of 2016 presidential race
SC was the final disappointment for Bush, who campaigned alongside members of his famous family, which remains popular in the state. At the moment this is looking unlikely. But anyone who spins that as some sort of loss for Trump is kidding themselves.
A string of victories for Clinton and Trump in Super Tuesday contests would give them commanding leads in the delegate race, dampening prospects for their rivals to catch up. Clinton has 503 to Sanders’ 70, including party officials known as superdelegates who back the candidate of their choice.
The delegates awarded so far in the presidential race are effectively trivial, but after Saturday night’s results it’s growing clear that the race this autumn will be between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
Former Secretary of State Clinton’s victory in the Nevada Democratic caucuses, meanwhile, could help calm worries among the Democratic establishment about the strength of her campaign. “Mr. Trump is the antithesis of that”, McMullen said.
“We’re going to continue to campaign everywhere”. Officially joining the GOP field in June, accompanied by a speech where he declared “America deserves better”, he was immediately declared a frontrunner and winning the Republican nomination was already foregone conclusion with many already groaning at the thought of a Bush-Clinton dynasty rematch. Beating Ted Cruz was likely just icing on the cake.
“If you are a conservative, this is where you belong because only one strong conservative is in a position to win this race”. After a triumphant Sanders result in New Hampshire, Clinton won by a 53%-to-47% margin in Nevada. His latest fundraising report also showed a surprising presence of staff in states that will vote March 1. At his last election rally Friday night he upped the ante in his remarks about them, repeating the widely discredited story of US General John Pershing, who was said to have halted Muslim attacks in the Philippines in the early 1900s by shooting the rebels with bullets dipped in pigs’ blood.
Robby Mook: Clinton’s campaign manager was chosen for his low-key style and organizing chops.
In Nevada, Clinton claimed a major win. Her win is a victory for her commitment to organizing and to Mook.
The blunt-talking billionaire posted his second straight victory in South Carolina’s Republican primary Saturday, ending any lingering doubts that he could transform his passionate supporters into voters. This would seem to contradict the view that endorsements no longer matter in the race, given the success of Trump and Cruz. And if Rubio winds up as the nominee, Haley will be first among equals to be his vice presidential pick. He didn’t, finishing a distant fourth.
“The people of Iowa, New Hampshire and SC have spoken and I respect their decision, so with that I am suspending my campaign”, Bush said. If David wants to slay Goliath, he needs to find rocks that actually slay the giant.
Bush won 2.8 percent of the vote in Iowa, and despite a huge financial advantage over some of his competitors he performed poorly in New Hampshire.
The exit polls contained some encouraging news for Sen. The Colorado caucuses or the Minnesota caucuses March 1? Virginia is among the Super Tuesday states.
George W Bush, in a statement, said that he was proud of his younger brother for “running a campaign that looked to the future, presented serious proposals and elevated the tone of the race”.
Trump has now won primaries in two very different states.
More than 725,000 ballots were cast in the six-way race, representing more than 24 percent of all registered voters in the state. “When Marco had the leading players behind him, he couldn’t come anywhere close to Donald Trump”.
