Jeep CEO Confirms Hellcat Jeep by End of 2017
We’ve all be waiting for it but now it looks like Jeep has finally confirmed there is a Hellcat version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee coming next year.
The news hasn’t come by way of the company’s copywriters, however – but rather Jeep CEO himself, Mike Manley, at this week’s Detroit auto show.
The Grand Cherokee SRT is available in three engine option, wherein the 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V-6 engine will probably make its way to the India.
Ever since Dodge unleashed its 707-horsepower Hellcat Challenger and Charger, fans of the Jeep brand have eyed the supercharged V8s enviously from across Fiat-Chrysler’s corporate architecture.
It’s too early to talk about the price tag, but obviously it will command a serious premium over the regular Grand Cherokee SRT which kicks off at $64,895.
In 2014, Jeep trademarked the “Trackhawk” moniker, which suggested a higher performance Jeep was in the works, however it’s still unclear if that’s destined for the Grand Cherokee nameplate, though likely. Now that Jeep has made it official, some people are saying that there will be more Hellcat models from Jeep in the future. Really, even if the company has to dial down the power of the Hellcat Jeep a bit, there is a good chance that it will still be the most powerful SUV in the world. The exec’s answer was about as straightforward as it gets: “Not only can I put a Hellcat motor in one of those for you”, Manley said, “I’m going to bring that to market before the end of 2017”.
