Jenner-starring E! series ‘I Am Cait’ axed after 2 seasons
There will be no third season forI Am Cait, its star Caitlyn Jenner revealed online today.
The series documented Caitlyn Jenner’s transition into womanhood.
Though Jenner didn’t offer an explanation for the show’s end, Radar previously reported that the onetime Olympian, 66, wasn’t pulling in the ratings E! had come to expect from their other hits, including ex-wife Kris’ longtime series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. In Season Two, Jenner joined trans advocates like Jennifer Boylan, Shandi Moore, Zachary Drucker and Candis Cayne on a bus trip, where discussions often got heated.
In a tweet, Jenner wrote, “After 2 wonderful seasons… it’s time for the next adventure”.
The series premiered to solid numbers (nearly 3 million viewers) in July 2015 but quickly hemorrhaged its audience – at one point averaging a measly 480,00 viewers for an episode that aired in mid-March (Season 2, which ended at the end of April). “She will always remain a part of the E! family, and we look forward to continue following her journey as she appears on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians'”. “Thank you E! & thank you to the best girlfriends I could ask for!” she tweeted following the announcement.
The show’s debut season started out strong, as America tuned in to meet Caitlyn and learn her story.
