Jennifer Aniston wants to be home with her husband for Christmas
Rated R for crude sexual content and language throughout, drug use and graphic nudity. One hour, 45 minutes.
This is one of those loud, forced, party-hard movies where everyone onscreen is trying their best to convince us we’re watching a zany, edgy romp – but the cartoonish slapstick antics, the lazy and warmed-over plot and the consistent reliance on genital- and flatulence-based humor comes across as juvenile and exhausted.
The trailer is all about how crazily the entire office have been setting up an insane Christmas party and enjoying it to the fullest. Next thing you know turkey walks in and there was another turkey holding that turkey. Dare to dream, my friends.
This image released by Paramount Pictures shows T.J. Miller as Clay Vanstone, left, and Jason Bateman as Josh Parker in a scene from “Office Christmas Party”. But this is really just preamble for Bell, who see-saws between approachable (“I’ll be at Whole Foods”) and psychotic (she pokes a gun around like it’s a remote control low on batteries). And Rob Corddry played Ari Fleischer in Oliver Stone’s “W”.
She revealed to Entertainment Tonight: “He is the life of the party”. While the talent of the cast of “Office Christmas Party” certainly added some unscripted moments to the proceedings, the directors more or less asked the actors to hew to the script first before jumping off. The movie wants to channel the anarchic spirit of National Lampoon productions and movies like “Bachelor Party”, where a donkey dies in the elevator, and it succeeds to a degree (here, we get reindeer in the office restroom, while an impromptu orgy unfolds in the next-door stall). Well, you’re no fun.
In Office Christmas Party, when the CEO tries to close down her hard-partying brother’s branch, he and his Chief Technical Officer must rally their co-workers and host an epic office Christmas party in an effort to impress a potential client and close a sale that will save their jobs. Connie Booth is forced to sing I Cain’t Say No. Two points for me.
“Office Christmas Party” is a movie that benefits greatly from the newly relaxed marijuana laws in California. Uh huh. Uh huh. “You’ve got to move forward and hope for the best for our country and for everyone in it”. There’s really no need for me to continue here.
“I think with Kate, I ruined most takes because I was laughing uncontrollably”, Olivia confessed on US breakfast show Good Morning America, “so I didn’t know how they were going to shoot it”. “When you are at a party where anything is possible, it does feel like that high school-college thing, where you feel like nothing can go wrong”.
