Jeremiah Ratliff Reportedly Said ‘I Am The Devil’ And Made Violent Threats
The police report also states Bears officials expressed concern for the safety of the staff because they believe Ratliff owns multiple firearms. Ratliff said, “He felt like killing everybody in the building”, according to the police report.
Cops say he gathered his belongings andleft the property without further incident… only to return later that day. The Bears’ security director called the Lake Forest police and asked for a police presence until the staff left for the day and asked the police to be on hand again when the staff returned to work the next day.
The four-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman was in his third season with the Bears and made two starts in 2015 before his release.
Ratliff was seen having an animated conversation with general manager Ryan Pace on October 21 while the rest of the players were on the practice field. Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman reported that on the Friday before the final game of last season, Ratliff was “behaving belligerently toward players and coaches” at practice, and wasn’t allowed to practice. Ratliff was that in his first season in Chicago, so the Bears signed him to a multiple year contract extension.
“I wasn’t here. So I had no direct reasoning to feel anything other than evaluating him as he went forward”, Fox said.
Last week the Chicago Bears cut defensive lineman Jeremiah Ratliff, and since then, we’ve been learning a little more about the disturbing behavior that he was exhibiting.
Staff members told police that Ratliff was “very angry and irrational” when he returned the second time. One of the best veterans I’ve been around, as far as helping younger guys, helping older guys. Ratliff owns a home near Valley Ranch, home of the Cowboys’ practice facility. “I don’t know that those are red flags in the game of football”.
Ratliff likely won’t find another team unless the Cowboys want to take him back and keep him under the watchful eye of Greg Hardy.
“It’s a personal thing between me and him, so like I said, we’re close friends and I just hope the best for him and his family”, Bennett said.
