Jeremy Lin on a return to NY: “never say never”
The New York Knicks just added a new point guard, but could they be bringing in a familiar face back into the fold.
“I’ve played six years in the NBA”, Lin said at the World Economic Forum this past weekend. “I’ve played for two D-League teams”, Lin said. There are a lot of factors to take into account, such as the coaching staff, style of play, be a starter or not, whether the team is strong, and the city located.
Lin left NY after his magical run at the end of 2011-12 season, signing a four-year deal with the Rockets. Whiteside will have a series of meetings with teams that day, and the NBA’s blocked-shot leader last season wants to decide quickly.
Injuries and inconsistent play eventually opened up a spot for Lin on the roster, and he made the most of that opportunity, to say the least. Lin said that it is his main goal in the free agency and guarantees his fans that he will pick the one he knows will result to showing the best of him, reports ESPN.
“It’s not looking likely because they just traded for Derrick Rose”.
Unrestricted free agent Jeremy Lin wants a maximum contract due to the salary cap increase in the market starting July 1 as he set his sights on potentially returning to the New York Knicks, even if it is impossible. The Nets are in need of a point guard and had interest in Lin before he landed in Charlotte. Broussard also said that “Lin will meet with three other clubs beginning on July 1st”.
The Miami Heat center says he wants to know who his next team is on Friday, the first day of this summer’s National Basketball Association free-agent period.
Should either NY team consider signing the 27-year-old scoring guard?
Lin is also on record in asserting that he would be open to a return to Madison Square Garden and the Knicks.
With the Hornets, Lin’s star shone again and so far, the previous season was one of his best outings.
Last season Lin averaged 11.7 points on 41.2 percent shooting, 33.6 from beyond the arc, and chipped in three assists per game as a reserve for the Hornets.
“I want to see how good I can become”, he said. Could the Nets lure him away? Lin admitted that Rose’s makes the reunion unlikely but clarified that he is not closing his doors for the Knicks.
