Jet Airways removes flight crew for Sonu Nigam’s performance
Sonu Nigam gave an impromptu performance on the plane’s address system on January 4 when the passengers on a Jet Airways flight from Jodhpur to Mumbai requested the bollywood singer, who was in the same flight, to sing for them.
The video of Sonu Nigam singing “Refugee’s “Panchi nadiya.’ and ‘Do pal ruka khwabon ka karvaan” from ‘Veer Zaara” had gone viral on social media with over 2 million views and several thousand shares.
However, the episode has not turned not well for the crew members. DGCA consider this as the misuse of flight’s announcing system and suspended the cabin crew members till the inquiry. Jet has also been asked to ensure that such “misuse” of the in-flight announcement system is not allowed in future. Two years back, another private airline had made the crew of some flights dance mid-air to the song Balam pichkari on Holi. Jet confirmed that all the crew on board the flight have been suspended and will be given “corrective training”.
He said, “I have witnessed an elaborate fashion show in an aircraft. “(The airline) might have instigated passengers to become unruly…
According to an Indian daily, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation asked the airline to suspend five air hostesses for allowing the singer to use the device to entertain the passengers.
However, many netizens supported the carrier’s decision, saying such actions could jeopardise flight safety.
