Jet crashes during Scott County air show
The Wings Over Big South Fork Air and auto Show at Scott County Municipal Airport in Oneida was cancelled, airport manager Hank Duvall said.
Gordon was the only person inside the L-39 Albatros, a fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft.
A pilot was killed Saturday when his small plane crashed during an air show in northern Tennessee, CBS affiliate WVLT reports.
“I looked over and I saw him, he was going kind of in a nose dive”, Bruce Dunlap told NBC station WBIR in Knoxville.
“Yeah when we saw the puff of smoke and he did not come back, my heart dropped and we just started instantly saying some prayers”, said Dunlap. Pilot Jay Gordon, who was the only man on board of the plane, has died.
An investigation of causes of the incident is underway. He has flown in the Thunder Over Louisville Air Show for many years. The said “his ability to short with a lot of love of Thunder will fully be missed”.
