Jets give Giants the boot in OT
Get ready for the New York Giants vs New York Jets game today as this rivalry continues.
Although the Giants are struggling of late offensively, they still have weapons and can erupt at any time.
The Jets quarterback previously played for the Houston Texans and a bunch of other teams before joining the Jets. “I should’ve caught the ball in the end zone; it could have been a touchdown there”, he said. Meanwhile the Giants put up just 33 yards rushing last week. Later in October the Jets dominated the Redskins 34-20 and outgained them 474 yards to 225.
The Jets gave up yet another big play on the next Giants drive, which resulted in a 35-yard Brown field goal.
Dec 6, 2015; East Rutherford, NJ, USA; New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin reacts during the fourth quarter against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Ryan Fitzpatrick was coming off the best year of his career, and no one noticed.
Victor Cruz will not suit up for the Giants in this year’s contest, but sophomore Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. poses an even greater challenge for Cromartie and the Jets secondary. In between safety Calvin Pryor saved another touchdown when he broke up a pass to Beckham in the endzone, knocking Beckham to the ground.
The Giants have lost three games in the final 10 seconds of the fourth quarter and a fourth in overtime.
And so Gang Green’s comeback began.
Coughlin’s aggressive nature was prevalent today in a play that helped to decide the flow of the game late. With 4:30 remaining in the fourth quarter, it was 20-13 Giants.
For his second straight game, Eli Manning was subpar, tossing just one touchdown to go along with one extremely costly interception. “It’s a weird drive, all the penalties and things of that nature going on”. Fitzpatrick – who has never won more than six games as a starter – connected with Brandon Marshall for the game-tying TD with 27 seconds left in regulation and Randy Bullock sealed the win with a 31-yard field goal on the opening drive of OT.
Brandon Marshall had a good feeling as he sat on a bench on the New York Jets’ sideline, so he leaned over and told Ryan Fitzpatrick they were about to win. Had the team kicked a field goal, they would have had a 13-point lead and the Jets would be forced to drive for two touchdowns as opposed to a touchdown and a field goal.
The Cincinnati Bengals were dominant in beating the Cleveland Browns 37-3, with quarterback Andy Dalton responsible for three of their touchdowns as they improved to 10-2 on the season.
The Giants win games throwing the ball and there is little doubt Eli Manning will air it out.
Jason Pierre-Paul force a turnover for the home side as he recovered a ball fumbled by Chris Ivory, but the Giants had to settle for a field goal as Hakeem Nicks was a yard short of the endzone.
It seems like the Giants are going with the hot hand rather than having some sort of set rotation, and it shows because their running backs once again didn’t seem to have much of a rhythm.
Fitzpatrick threw for a season-high 390 yards and two touchdowns, completing 36 of 50 passes. He is keeping the team alive nearly single-handed, with a 23:9 touchdown to interception ratio right now and a 63% completion percentage on 3,021 yards through only 11 games.
The duo has combined for 17 TDs – nine for Marshall and eight for Decker – the most by a pair of Jets receivers since Keyshawn Johnson (10) and Wayne Chrebet (eight) in 1998.
There are some positives to take from the last few weeks, such as the emergence of Will Tye, who had 70 yards receiving on Sunday, and Dwayne Harris continuing to contribute all over the field.
