Jets Set to face Odell without Revis
OBJ had his way with the New York Jets defense in the first half this afternoon, notching both a signature one-handed grab, and a big-play touchdown.
After blowing a 10-point fourth quarter lead in Sunday’s 23-20 loss to the New York Jets, the Giants became the first team in National Football League history to blow four fourth-quarter leads of 10 points or more in a single season.
“I didn’t know about this quote, but now that you give it to me, I’ll make sure he (Beckham) hears it”, coach Tom Coughlin said.
“Other than Christmas, December is never really a fun time for me some reason”, quipped the 33-year-old Fitzpatrick, who has never played in the postseason. Jets CB Marcus Williams, who replaced Revis in the lineup week, is nursing a sprained knee and has yet to practice this week.3.
So, naturally, members of the Jets’ defensive line were being as politically correct as possible Thursday when discussing the Giants’ depleted offensive wall, which could be missing two starters when the teams clash.
The Jets will go with five CBs, led by veteran Antonio Cromartie one side and either Buster Skrine or Dexter McDougle on the other. They lost it when Odell Beckham Jr. couldn’t reel in multiple balls in big spots, as the league’s most electric receiver is normally expected to do.
“It’s just about being on the same page”, Beckham said.
“They’re not coming in raw, ” Bowles said of the group. “When you’re able to make a team one-dimensional, have them abandon it altogether, that’s a good feeling”. You kick it back to the huddle and we go to the fourth-and-two play.
This would be the second straight game Revis would miss, but Bowles isn’t concerned that this could be a long-term situation. It’s why Beckham went above and beyond to get ready for this game.
“A loss is a loss”, said Beckham, who had six catches for 149 yards, including another one-hander. “We got single coverage, and we put him to the wide field and basically just threw it up and said, ‘Brandon, make a play.’ He came down with it and made it look easy”. As we saw last week – and not for the first time – all Eli Manning has to do is throw the pigskin within a zip code or two of his favorite target and Beckham will come up with the catch. We have a challenge at hand with not just (Beckham), but all their guys.
“Them trying to knock the ball out of my hands, I don’t think it was the best observation. It’ll be a good matchup”. Bailey has missed the last three games….
And the coach said of Milliner being involved, “Depending on the game plan, he could be….”
