Jets vs. Dolphins: Preview, Game Time and TV Schedule

After Sunday’s 27-14 loss to the Jets in London, Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said he’s not anxious about his job.

No matter what Stephen Ross, the Dolphins’ owner, decides this week on extent of the coaching changes, the minimum must be Coyle having coached his last as the defensive coordinator for Miami.

One writer, Yahoo’s Jay Busbee, joked that the ‘Phins might wish to leave Philbin at the airport on their way back stateside. “That’s all you can do”, said receiver Rishard Matthews, who has scored three of the team’s six touchdowns this season.

Then there’s this inspiring anonymous quote from a Dolphins player, “We’ve been going out there, and practicing our (tails) off every day, but as players, we’re exhausted of being embarrassed, if we get beat in Europe, (players) are going to throw in the towel”.

Their defense allowed Ivory 166 yards rushing while Fitzpatrick picked up 218 yards in the air and another 37 on the ground.

Coming into the season, the talk had the Dolphins looking to claim their first playoff appearance since 2008, and potentially challenging the New England Patriots for the AFC East division title. Miami also has been outscored 37-3 in first quarters this season, which is a poor reflection on the coaching staff.

Anxious feelings persist because of continued problems generating yards (241 Sunday) on offense and little impact from $114 million free agent big fish Ndamukong Suh.

The one scoring play the Dolphins did have in the first half came with a lot of help from the New York defense with two pass interference penalties that totalled 58 yards. His struggles to develop quarterback Ryan Tannehill will undoubtedly be near the top of the reasons he’s let go if the Dolphins move in another direction.

NOTES: Sunday’s game was the 12th regular-season game at Wembley Stadium, but the first intra-divisional game…. “According to Rand’s article, [o]ne team source said “everyone understands” the coaches are the issue and aren’t putting the team in a position to win”. Jets S Calvin Pryor is dealing with a knee “bone contusion” per Bowles and will be re-evaluated this week…. There were other teams during that week that had bad games like that.
