The three Midwestern states – long Democratic bastions – all went for Trump in the recent election and were the key to his victory in the Electoral College, although Clinton won handily in the nationwide popular vote.

Wisconsin’s commission had to grant Stein’s recount request due to state law, although her allegations had no clear evidence.
Stein’s campaign is expected to hold a 2:30 p.m press conference in front of the Michigan Bureau of Elections featuring attorneys for the campaign and University of Michigan professor Alex Halderman, who has publicly questioned the security of voting machines since the end of the 2016 presidential election.
Republicans have said a MI recount would cost taxpayers far more than the $973,000 Stein must pay when filing her recount petition.
Brewer has acknowledged that he doesn’t expect a recount, which Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson has estimated could cost as much as $2 million, to change the outcome of the election in Michigan. J. Alex Halderman of the University of MI is one of those who wants her to do so, and he posted a message online last week advising Clinton to file for an examination of the physical evidence to erase some of the country’s doubt about the outcome. Clinton’s campaign has signaled they will also partake.
Ms Stein previously asked for recounts in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
On Thursday, the recount will begin, and all counties will have until December 12 to complete their part. The Clinton campaign had no immediate response. She said the state has indicated some of the cost will be covered from what Stein paid, but it is unlikely all of the money spent locally will be repaid. This is a scam by the Green Party for an election that has already been conceded, and the results of this election should be respected instead of being challenged and abused, which is exactly what Jill Stein is doing, Trump said in a statement released by his transition team. He says the answer is a hand recount of four-point-eight million ballots. “I request that all of the precincts and absent voter counting board precincts within the state of MI be recounted by hand count”.
The president-elect previously stoked claims of voter fraud in the weeks leading up to the presidential election, urging his supporters to be watchful of irregularities at the polls.
Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein requested the recount, alleging without evidence that the state’s electronic voting machines may have been hacked.
